It all begin in 1953...
MWBC began its ministry to the youth of the Midwest in 1953. First sessions were conducted in tents near Gladbrook, Iowa until 1955, when a small facility was purchased on Wolf Lake near Marshalltown. This facility was used until it was outgrown and sold in 1962. Rented facilities were used from 1963 to 1968.

Then, in the fall of 1968, the Lake Darling Youth Center (LDYC) near Brighton, Iowa was found. The campsite is located on a seven-acre lake shore tract that provides the most extensive view of the lake to be found along its shores. Also, several hundred acres of adjacent state-owned land are available for camp activities. LDYC is owned an operated by a citizens group in Washington County and is governed by its own Board of Directors. The following summer in 1969, three weekly sessions began at LDYC. Since 1969, the LDYC campsite has been our home.

Today, MWBC now offers seven camping sessions during six weeks each summer, as well as a spring sessions. The camp has ten cabins that will accommodate ten campers each and a counselor, and four staff cabins. A large main building houses the dining hall, kitchen, and crafts/activities room. The bath house is centrally located on the campus. There is an athletic field, a basketball court, sand volleyball court, tether ball court, roped-off swimming beach on the lake and a separate boat dock for boating and canoeing. In addition, there is an open-air shelter house, campfire area, chapel area and plenty of open green spaces.
