What
to Bring
These are some of the things that we recommend you bring with you to camp.
Please keep in mind that camp is not a place to show
off your best outfits (it's camp!) We also request that all your clothes
be modest (no short shorts or bare middrifts). Also keep in mind that
this is Iowa--the weather you have at the start of camp is not always
what you end up with. And sometimes it's chilly in the morning and at
night. Bring both cool weather and warm weather clothing, as well as some
rainy weather clothes.
Bedding (pillow, sleeping bag
and sheet, or twin sheet set)
Enough clothes for 10-11 days (you may go through more than one a day.
Pack several cool weather outfits along with your summer clothes)
Extra socks
Jacket or sweat shirt
Umbrella or rain gear
One outfit in case of a dress-up night
Athletic clothes--a few non-white t-shirts (all of which can be muddy,
painted on, etc.)
Flip flops (at least one pair for shower)
Tennis shoes
Swim suit and cover-up for the beach
2 towels
Flashlight
Bible
Plain notebook
Pencils/Pens
Blanket to lay on grass or for campfire
Bug spray (recommend at least 15 % DEET)
Sunscreen
Toiletries (such as toothbrush, paste, mouthwash, soap, shampoo, etc)
Small Fan
Camera
Alarm clock
What to leave at home:
Tobacco, alcoholic beverages and illegal
substances
Firearms, fireworks, matches, and cigarette lighters
Radios, (including radio alarms)
I-Pods and other media players
DVD players, TVs, laptops
Cell phones (for necessary contact, the camp has a phone available to
campers)
Magazines and comics of any type
Remember, you will be carrying all of this to and from your
cabin, so pack smart.
