2020 Summer Session Cancelled:
Letter From the Vice President:
As some of you know, the MWBC Board of Directors have been in communication about this summer’s camping season since we first heard Covid-19 had reached the U.S. We have spent many hours planning this year’s camping season, as well as the session Directors and staff.
After much discussion, gathering input from the session Directors, and seeing what other area Christian camps have done in preparation for this summer, we have come to the decision to cancel the summer sessions for 2020 Midwest Bible Camp. We gathered as much information as we could and tried to push our decision back as this is a very fluid situation but we do not see being able to safely hold camp starting in a month while keeping the integrity of MWBC and not turning people away. Later this summer we will be revisiting the possibility of holding both the Corporate Meeting and the Fall Retreat for the last week of September, as usual.
We are looking at options for virtual ways to have parts of camps and each Director has been tasked with trying to see what might work best for their week/age group. We are hoping to be able to have videos of lessons or skits, etc to put online for campers to view. Our current plan is to use this year’s theme of ‘Be Prepared’ for next summer. We are looking into offering a special 2020 themed Tee-shirt for anyone to purchase, and are pushing our online store to a later date as well, TBA.
While we understand this is sad news during a time that is tough for most of us, we know that God is in control, and as awesome as Lake Darling Youth Center is, camp is about relationships and Him. Please reach out to those relationships you’ve gained over the years, whether it is your camp friends, counselors, or Directors.
Campers: your staff will miss you this summer but is looking forward to seeing you next summer. Your staff is here for you, YOU are the reason so many of us come back to The Hill year after year. We as a Board are here for you too. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to send us an email. You can find the Board’s email, other updates, and virtual options on the website.
Keep a watch out for those you know that may be struggling in this time, not everyone is comfortable reaching out when they need it. Pray for those around you and our National and World Leaders.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Continue to be Jesus to those around you and in your communities. Spread love like (camp)fire.
